The Department of Journalism welcomes international students and staff for visits to our department. Please send an email to journalism@sun.ac.za to liaise about such a visit. We will try our best to accommodate you.
For students who want to do a credit-bearing semester exchange, please first contact our International Office on exchange@sun.ac.za. More information about the steps to follow can be found HERE.
Please keep the following in mind when considering a semester exchange:
- Our academic year runs from January to December, with a winter break in June/July.
- Our MA programme is a theory-based research degree. It runs in a hybrid format, with most learning taking place online or in one-on-one engagements with a supervisor. There are only two on-campus workshop weeks where students engage with their peers – one in January and one in June. More information can be found HERE.
- Our BAHons Journalism programme is an intensive, on-campus practice-orientated programme. More information can be found HERE.
We can make limited provision for international students on certain parts of the programme. Interested students need to consult with the BAHons Journalism course convener, Anneli Groenewald (annelig@sun.ac.za ) about the requirements and possibilities for exchange.
